Actions will be taken by gathering information about students’ self-esteem through a survey at the beginning of the year. This will help the study find out the reasons for their level of self-esteem and have them rate their self esteem in math. After measuring the students’ self-esteem, I will set realistic goals with the students’ to raise their self-esteem. At the end of the research, I will conduct another survey to determine the amount of self-esteem growth from each student and whether or not the goals were achieved. Euthanasia Essay - Pro Euthanasia Argumentative Essay

Imani Henry Mr. Dowie Honors English 9 1/13/17 Pro Euthanasia Argumentative Essay Euthanasia is the act of intentionally killing someone to end suffering, with and without their consent. This practice has been around since the beginning of time and has been practiced by different cultures all over the world. In the United States currently, only 5 states allow the option of euthanasia. All states throughout the USA should allow the act of euthanasia. Considering it is within the 1st amendment due to it being a choice, which is a way people express themselves, it is unfair and unlawful for it not to be given. Banning the act is overall doing more harm than good. If you were a citizen suffering from a terminal illness, undergoing all the†¦show more content†¦Arguably, if most people were diagnosed with a terminal illness, they would rather end their suffering than trying to find the strength to try and survive another day, attempting to get better, even though no matter what they’re going to die in the end. According to the health research funding org anization, â€Å"When asked if those who are terminally ill or on life support should have the right to choose euthanasia, 86% of the general public agree that euthanasia should be an option.† Doctors won’t give this option to individuals who wouldn’t benefit from this act, or if it wasn’t necessary. They also don’t carry out the procedure without the patient or patient’s family’s consent. If a personal choice like this is made by someone that only affects them overall, as an outsider there is no reason to worry/be upset by another’s opinion and decision, as it won’t affect or change anything for your life. You have to learn to respect other’s conclusions. People have the right of choice and expression, and not being able to choose an option like this is an invasion of their first amendment right and is blatantly unfair. Euthanasia is a personal, painless and peaceful decision given to terminally ill patients to e nd their pain and suffrage based on the logic and intensity of their situation and given that they are going to die in the end anyways. Phenominal Women free essay sample

This being my first event at GAP, was not too sure what to expect, but in the end was able to learn some things about the history of many significant female leaders in Americas history. DRP. Jacqueline spoke about the history of African American women and how hey were mistreated. One of the most phenomenal woman in female African American history was a lady named Ella Baker. The type of woman Ella, described to be by DRP. Jacqueline, was a sassy and bossy young lady. One of the reasons that led her to become an activist in the movement was her grandmother being whipped for not marrying a man her owner commanded her to. After this happened, Ella grew up and took on a major role in a group called the SYNC (The Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee) and later n chose to spend her time helping African American kids go to public schools in New York without discrimination. We will write a custom essay sample on Phenominal Women or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page This really stood out to me because she was not afraid like many of the slaves but instead, was determined to make a difference for her grandmother and people. My first experience at a GAP academic event was very different than what I had expected it to be. Many things spoken during the lecture was a little confusing compared to how I thought it was going to be set up. The event itself was a good experience and I felt like I learned a few things from it I enjoyed seeing many other students participating in the same lecture as I did.The fact that I was able to see many of my friends also joining in extra credit activities was eve motivational for me academically. I felt like I was not the only one in school that really went out of my way to drive forty-five minutes for an hour long activity. This may not have honestly been my favorite topic to learn about, but the event itself has definitely sparked an interest and curiosity as to other academic events going on during campus hours eve ry week.

Vietnam war veterans deserve more respect Essay Example For Students

Vietnam war veterans deserve more respect Essay After thinking about all the things we would learn this year in American history I decided to do my project on the experiences of Vietnam War veterans. There is a lot of controversy as to whether or not the Vietnam War veterans are given enough recognition for what they went through. I have heard horrible stories of US soldiers dying from US bombs, shell shock, and soldiers returning to America and not being able to function as active members of society due to the horrors of the war. All I really know about the war is what I have seen on television. I wanted to learn about the war through the firsthand accounts of those who were there. We will write a custom essay on Vietnam war veterans deserve more respect specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now The Vietnam War was a military struggle fought in Vietnam from 1959 to 1975. It began as an attempt by Communist guerrillas (or Vietcong) in the South, backed by Communist North Vietnam, to overthrow the government of South Vietnam. The struggle grew into a war between South Vietnam and North Vietnam and ultimately into an international conflict. The United States and some 40 other countries supported South Vietnam by supplying troops and munitions, and the USSR and the Peoples Republic of China furnished munitions to North Vietnam and the Vietcong. On both sides, however, the burden of the war fell mainly on the civilians.1 On January 27, in Paris, delegations representing the United States, South Vietnam, North Vietnam, and the Provisional Revolutionary Communist Government of South Vietnam signed an Agreement on Ending the War and Restoring Peace in Vietnam. The cease-fire officially went into effect on January 28. Both the US and North Vietnam asserted that there All the US fighting forces had withdrawn from Vietnam by March 1973, but not without major losses on both sides. Two million Vietnamese were killed and 3 million were wounded. The extensive use of napalm and defoliants (such as Agent Orange) left many people badly burned, and destroyed the ecology of a country that was mainly agricultural. This is an important part of US history because it was the first war in which there was no clear winner. 57,685 US soldiers were killed, and triple that amount were wounded. Even those who returned to the United states without physical damage suffered from depression, and had to live with memories of the carnage and destruction that they saw. What bothers me about the war is that even though these men risked their lives to fight a war that had nothing to do with them only because their country was anti-Communist, they have been seemingly forgotten by their country. Many, especially those who suffered physical trauma, have no jobs and are forced to beg for food on street corners and live under bridges. The first book I read was Bouncing Back. It was a collection of the experiences of a group of Air Force pilots who were gunned down and taken as prisoners of war. The post-POW lives of the Air Force pilots I read about contrasted greatly with those of the Marines I read about in The War In I The Marines lived dirty lived in the Jungles of Vietnam. One of the best things about The War In I Corps was its great descriptions of the things the Marines had to go through. As Richard A. Guidry put it : In a driving rain, laden with heavy packs, our platoon lumbered toward its place in the long line of men sprawled in the thick sticky mud. The rain added a slimy quality to the crust of dirt and fungus that encased my body. Running my fingers across my arm was like following the tracks of a snail.3 It really gave me a feel for what they were going through. It made me wonder how they didnt just not fight. The war wasnt theirs, but due to bad luck they were stuck in this horrible jungle forced to fight an enemy they had no reason to hate. Living like animals with practically no food and little or no contact with Their families. .ub432ed52eae8e8c92cf8b1f52699fc32 , .ub432ed52eae8e8c92cf8b1f52699fc32 .postImageUrl , .ub432ed52eae8e8c92cf8b1f52699fc32 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ub432ed52eae8e8c92cf8b1f52699fc32 , .ub432ed52eae8e8c92cf8b1f52699fc32:hover , .ub432ed52eae8e8c92cf8b1f52699fc32:visited , .ub432ed52eae8e8c92cf8b1f52699fc32:active { border:0!important; } .ub432ed52eae8e8c92cf8b1f52699fc32 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ub432ed52eae8e8c92cf8b1f52699fc32 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ub432ed52eae8e8c92cf8b1f52699fc32:active , .ub432ed52eae8e8c92cf8b1f52699fc32:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ub432ed52eae8e8c92cf8b1f52699fc32 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ub432ed52eae8e8c92cf8b1f52699fc32 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ub432ed52eae8e8c92cf8b1f52699fc32 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ub432ed52eae8e8c92cf8b1f52699fc32 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ub432ed52eae8e8c92cf8b1f52699fc32:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ub432ed52eae8e8c92cf8b1f52699fc32 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ub432ed52eae8e8c92cf8b1f52699fc32 .ub432ed52eae8e8c92cf8b1f52699fc32-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ub432ed52eae8e8c92cf8b1f52699fc32:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: A Question of Loyalty in Julius Caesar Julius Caes Essay Under the same conditions I think I would sit under a tree and While finishing the book, I remembered a discussion we had in class about whether or not the soldiers were considered as individuals. Guidry explained how military thought of them: To them we were just parts of the machine, no different from cannons or jeeps. We were superfluous; they were there to fill their clipboards. Apparently, nobody wanted to .
